Character Story

As a child, Iclyn always knew she would align with the winter court when the time came. Not because her father whom she adored was from that court because family lines had no sway on which court one aligned with. No, it was more like a feeling, a sense of belonging, one might say nature decided where you belonged. And for her it was winter, she love the cold biting across her lips, the snow falling to the ground, covering everything, but most of all she could hear the songs of snowflakes, the whispers of ice crackling, and feel the wind upon her as it called. Feeling always most at home within the blizzard she loved the beauty of the storm.

Always an adventurous child, the world was her playground. She loved meeting people they were like puzzles and she loved putting the pieces together. Always sharing things with others she cared not she could always find new and being naturally talented everyone seemed to think that she would be chosen the future queen of the winter court. However, this was far from the truth it would be her sister who would gain this honor.

Her sister on the other hand struggled with her powers making people wonder if some sort of mistake had been made. While Iclyn was bold her sister was afraid and her biggest fear seemed to be being alone. Always cautious and not very good at sharing her sister kept the things that belonged to her close. And she consider nothing more hers than the two men who would become her lovers. The first being her knight, Drazhan, Knight of Winter, and King of the Autumn Court. In their world the two titles went hand in hand. Iclyn secretly wanted a knight of her own and sometimes tried to get his attention, invoking her sister to get mad at her and knock her down or pull her hair.

Like, many young fae Iclyn dreamed and pretended to be a queen, well of most little girl ones at any rate. And she dreamed of her own knight, subjects that loved her, and being so in tune with winter that you could feel it in your bones. This was reality for her sister. And the more people seemed to comment on Iclyn's talent and grace the harder her sister clung to what was hers. The second of these me being named Bain, related to the waning queen, he seemed very much apart of their lives as her sister trained to someday take the throne. Iclyn came to care about him and thought her sister didn't need two knights surely she could give her one. Bain wasn't really a knight, each queen only has one, but Iclyn's child's mind did not see it thus.

Iclyn tried very hard whenever she was around them to impress them. She learned as much of the magic of winter that she could. Her sister was raised by the previous winter queen, who love her, and Iclyn by her family. Something that she believed made the two of them not as close as sisters should be. But, Iclyn tried to share with her sister hoping she would share in return, and realize that she would always give what she had willingly. In time her sister would start a romantic relationship with both men. It was clear to anyone that it would happen. The way she behaved was an indication, taking joy on their attention, and lashing out when it was received by others

By all accounts it was mild lashing out. Hair pulling, upset glances and was often quickly diffused but she took offense to her sister lashing out. She was a good queen though just not as liked as Iclyn, mostly because her fears made her a bit silly at times and she just wasn't as open. However, she loved Draz and Bain and they loved each other. It was here Iclyn felt like an outsider to being near those she wanted to be. It might have always remained this way or until the next queen was chosen if her sister hadn't gotten sick.

The sickness ate at her mind. Turning her fears into nightmares making it so she began to see enemies everywhere and become crazy jealous to the point of killing those she thought stood against her. Or those who she believed wanted her lovers. Iclyn was horrified and people called her to rebel against her own sister. There was no successor or so they thought. Normally, a queen knows when her reign is coming to an end because a new queen is born and the waning queen teaches her before passing. There have been times in history where a queen is killed before this can happen and everything is thrown out of balance till a new queen is found or some one manages to control things as much as possible while they wait. They wanted her to act as queen till her sister's successor could be found and trained and she thought about it save the people from the madness, But, a few things stayed her hand.

One of them being she didn't want to kill her sister. She loved her though a part of her realized that it would be best for the people and that her sister would not want to be the monster she had become. and because it would put winter out of balance something she had a great respect for. She might be able to hold it with her powers but she was not queen. Lastly, there were Bain and the knight to consider. With neither supporting her she would have to battle hem all. If by chance she managed to kill them her heart would be broken in the progress. Her sister saw her as a threat and knowing if she stayed her sister would call for her death and one way or the other one of them would have to die. So, she left to protect those she cared about and herself and to keep her sister killing her own kin. A crime that without good cause would bring the wrath of the high court down upon you. Another reason that perhaps stayed Iclyn's hand through killing her sister in madness would have been considered a mercy.

She left it all and explored the world when she had explored as much as she could she explored other world. Building homes and connections in various places. She learned about winter in far off places and connecting to it. She let go of her darker impulses gave in to her desires and did as she wished. She learned from fae of other worlds. Tricked mortals, danced and played games. All the while keeping an ear out for home. She would come to learn that her sister had a successor the whole time but had kept her locked away. Upon the girl being saved she had called for her death and Bain and Drazhan had to act.

Draz choose to go with her holding her as Bain ended them both. The exact details vary from person to person but she got the basic idea. Bain was forced to kill both his lovers to save them from her madness. She felt awful if she had acted it would not have came to that. Some part of her wanted to rush home but the new queen needed to heal not a reminder of the one that had locked her away. She also didn't want people to try and say should rule instead like did with sister. Thinking it was best to help the new queen the shadows of the past she stayed away.

This queen would die as well and it seemed without an heir. A fact that was not true. Her heir was born human in a land called Adrealia. A land that had laws about supernatural being wihin their borders. The woman who was becoming fae had no clue what was happening fled from home before realizing what had happened. Her brother, her knight going after her to kill her belonging to an order that job was to hunt supernaturals inside the kingdom and destroy them. In time both would come to accept their new roles while making some changes. It was becuse she was curious that she choose to return home.

The first person she came across Bain as the past rose up to greet her. After she laid her heart on the line telling him how she felt about him. She asked him to create a second winter court with her. Unsure what caused her to do such a thing she did as he bid and followed her instinct. It would be a voice from the past that would cement the decision. A man once thought dead and Bain's lover spoke throwing his support behind this idea. It was settled they would change the set up of their world in more ways than it already was being changed. After all what could possibly go wrong?
